Cluj Meeting in April 2013

From April 11th to 13th, 2013, the ECPI met for another working meet in Cluj, Romania. At this meeting, the group finalised a draft version of their proposed Manifesto, which is due to be presented at an expert workshop in Munich on July 5th and 6th, 2013. Besides formulating abstract demands to the European legislators, the group agreed on various examples from legal instruments and from practice to illustrate their points.

Apart from debating the substantive questions, the group agreed on a draft programme for the before-mentioned July seminar and workshop in Munich. At the seminar, a group of post-graduate doctoral students will gather to discuss the substantive criminal law policies of the European Union and critically analyse the legal instruments which have been enacted in this field in the past. Following this seminar, a group of experts which have so far not been involved in the work of the ECPI will evaluate whether or not and to what extend the draft Manifesto may help to overcome some of the deficiencies of judicial cooperation in Europe today.
