ECPI Stockholm Meeting in June/July 2012

The ECPI meet again from June 29th to July 1st for their second session on the premises of the University of Stockholm. At this meeting, the group focused entirely on debating various proposals for their future manifesto on principles for criminal procedure. The group discussed how the rights of individuals (defendants and victims) are at stake in criminal proceeding which does not stop at national borders and how the loss of these rights may be prevented or mitigated. ECPI members agreed that their new proposal should aim to include tangible suggestions directed at the EU legislator but leave criminal policy as such to policy-makers.
