EuCLR 2013 Issue 1 Available

EuCLR CoverThe first issue of the EuCLR 2013 is now available.

For this issue, the editors selected papers on very basic topics with regard to criminal justice. Claus Roxin (Munich) submitted a contribution on the so called goods-in-law doctrine (Rechtsgutstheorie) and relates scholarly opinions to the recent case-law of the German Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht)Elisavet Symeonidou Kastanidou (Thessaloniki) takes a look at the criminal phenomenon of bribary in the private sector and scrutinizes European and international legislation in this field and looks at the Greek implementation of these measures. Sakari Melander (Helsinki) demonstrates how the principle of ultima ratio originated from domestic legal orders but also traces it in European Union law. Vittorio Manes (Salento) shares with us how the European Convention on Human Rights is entrenched in the Italian legal system following recent case-law by the Italian Constitutional Court. Mercedes Pérez Manzano (Madrid) demonstrates how the Spanish Constitutional Court deals with the multilevel protection of fundamental rights in Europe with a particular emphasis on trials in absentia and thereby provides the domestic background to the ECJ’s Radu decision (C-396/11). Helmut Satzger, Frank Zimmermann and Georg Langheld present their evaluation of the Directive on Preventing and Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings on the basis of the principles laid down in the Manifesto on European Criminal Policy.
